Adventure Log: Shen Month 2

Rules Used

 Our heroes:

Shen Rep 5 AC 2 Thief Star (Smooth, Clumsy)

Phineas Rep 3 AC 2 Grunt Soldier (Hard as Nails)

Let's get this going right off the bat, roll for involuntary encounter, confrontation. Sounds juicy! Yes, the artwork is updated from last time. 😎

As I get further along, I will stop going through the procedures, such as "who are they" and "how many," etc. It should speed up the blog posts quite nicely.

As the two adventurers broke camp for the day, Shen's hair stood up on the back of his neck. He felt as though they were being watched. Suddenly, an arrow flew from the tree line missing Phineas by inces. It was an ambush! Three Tereken slavers appeared at the tree line.

PEF resolved as: Shooter rep 4 ac 2, shooter rep 3 ac 2, and melee rep 3 ac 2.

Round 1:  The Tereken had the advantage (even after using extraordinary effort!) and Shen was sent into duckback after using all four star power dice as well as losing two star power from rolling 6's. He initially went OD (obviously dead).

Shen recovered from duck back. Phineas charged the fellow rep 3 melee but after a brief fight, he goes out of the fight.

Round 2: Now the bandits go. Both shooters target Shen (who is now in cover). He again gets a duck back result. The melee guy halts in place, looting the body.

Shen recovers from duck back again and can't do anything.

Round 3: The shooters fire again and miss. The melee guy charges in but Shen sends him out of the fight with his dagger.

Now Shen charges the rep 4 shooter who misses and the melee is on! After a few rounds of melee, the shooter goes down. The rep 3 shooter decides he'd better get the hell out while he can and runs away. I looted the bodies of the dead and

After the encounter recovery: Phineas, thankfully, recovers! In the end, Shen had 4 IRD and 5 DRD so rolled 1 die and scored a 4. Phineas got 1 DRD and remained the same rep of 3. That was a huge battle indeed between low AC guys. Not fun (ok, it was pretty enjoyable!).

In retrospect, the fight may have been  non-lethal. I should have read through the Confrontation encounter. The two shooters would have been significantly impaired on the melee table. Ah well, lesson learned! Confrontation 1-5 non-lethal, 6 lethal. Defend encounter, always lethal. Makes sense as a confrontation is probably more like a fisty-cuffs.

Voluntary encounter: To be continued...
