All Things Zombie Evolution: Cabin in the Woods

I totally neglected this campaign and it's time to wrap it up! If you missed the first two episodes, here they are Episode 1 and Episode 2. Just a note, I have moved on from the small nine section table to simply pen and paper. It just goes to show the versatility of the rules set. You can use full on miniatures, dice, or simply write it down on the blog, like I'm doing here. So, let's see where we left off!

Ralph, Theo, and Natasha had just recently eaten, so their reps would stay the same. Theo was given the pistol, while Natasha remained unarmed. Here are their current stats.

Ralph Rep 5 BAP-2

Natasha Rep 5 Unarmed

Theo Rep 4 Pistol-1

The Story: As night fully set in, they made their way deep into the forest. The town was too dangerous as everyone was vying for food and shelter. Theo's aunt used to live in a cabin in the forested outskirts of this town but she died a long time ago and he wasn't sure if it was still there or what kind of shape it was in. Still, it was a lead.

"Better than nothin', right?" said Theo with a shrug. The two wary companions reluctantly nodded in agreement. "Besides, we need a pad before some of them zombies show up and decide to eat you fools."

"Right" Ralph said, grabbing for his side arm. He grunted, "I'm getting low on ammo. What about you, Theo?"

"Only one clip. How about you, slugger?" he said to Natasha.

An impish grin crossed her face as she massaged her knuckles. "What can I say, I never knew I had it in me. Well then, lets do this" and the three of them descended deeper into the forest.

Finally, they had arrived at the cabin and they did not like what they saw. Several shambling corpses scattered around suggested that someone must be in the home. The three signaled that they were ready and they charged in.

There were more zombies than they realized and were caught off guard. Five of the undead shuffled at them as fast as they could. Ralph and Theo simultaneously opened fire with Ralph blowing the head off one and Theo missing entirely. Natasha was charged by two but they were quickly dispatched by a makeshift club she had fashioned out of a tree limb. Next, Ralph crushes through the skull of the zombie as it charges in with his fist. Theo, however, has a harder time with his zombified assailant. A struggle broke out and, after a quick tussle on the ground, Theo came out on top but was staggered.

The group brushed themselves off and looked at each other. "You guys all right?" asked the blood splattered Natasha. Ralph nodded his head slowly, then their eyes fell on Theo. Theo had to take the "Harry are you okay?" test since he tied one round of combat and rolled his rep plus 5, which was just enough to be a 9!

"Yeah" he grunted, "just a little scraped up, bro."

They quickly turned their attention to the cabin. It was a rickety old building that was barely standing. They approached with caution, not knowing who or what could be inside. The door flung open and an assault rifle was pointed out. A man's voice said "just go away. We don't want any trouble and I'm sure you don't want any either."

"Please! Let us in, we can't stay out here like this!" yelled Natasha grabbing for the door but the gun toting man shook his head.

Dejected and demoralized, the three took off down the driveway with the wicked weather beating down on them.

Game Notes: This was a raid encounter with 1 PEF resolved. Additionally, the building resolved one more. Dang, I thought for sure they'd find a place to stay! I could have attacked but they were packing some serious heat in the house. I decided not to just throw them to the wolves as I might pursue this group at a later date. I guess that's the way things go in the zombie apocalypse!
