All Things Zombies Evolution: The Meat Wagon

ATZ: Evolution

I recently made a 6 " x 6" "micro table" for quick games inspired by this post on Facebook by Kurt. I'm using 5mm dice instead of miniatures or tokens. I also printed out little buildings, roads, trees, cars, etc. to populate my table. Mostly I'm seeing if my son can keep his little gremlin hands to himself.

I decided on an all grunts game with no star powers, just to see how things went! This is a raid encounter with 3 PEFs rolled randomly for a rural area. I'm planning on doing three games in this campaign but they might not live that long. For this initial encounter, the first PEF (in the car) will automatically resolve as zombies. Here's what the dice tell you about the NPCs:

Number = Rep

Black = Unarmed

White = 1 shot

Blue = 2 shots

Red = 3 shots

The Story: After an anonymous call came in about an abandoned car with possible passengers still inside, an ambulance and a squad car were dispatched to the scene. They arrived at the same time.  As they approached the vehicle, it appeared the occupant was DOA by the smell but, to their horror, the body started writhing. The corpse crawled from the twisted metal with hungry moans.

The Characters: 

Ralph Rep 5 Grunt BAP-2 (blue die)

Natasha Rep 4 Unarmed Grunt (green die)

Theo Rep 4 Unarmed Grunt (yellow die)

The Set Up and First Turn

 The first PEF (inside the car) turned out to be just one zombie. Ralph and Natasha both passed the "Zombie or No Zombie?" test. Theo only passed one. Ralph blasted two holes in the zombie with his BAP and it went out of the fight. No zombies heard the gunshots.

Moving forward. Why didn't they just get in the cars? Don't nobody get back in the cars in a horror film!

The other two PEFs resolved as nothing.

Total time played, about 15 mins. My son was just off to the right side getting his hair cut. All and all, not too shabby of a set up in my opinion. They PCs got lucky as they didn't encounter anymore enemies/survivors. Maybe they won't be next time though? Ralph got one zombie but didn't increase in rep.
